Erin Frost's large-scale oil paintings are a combined process of the corporeal and metaphysical. Beginning as improvised performance on the textile surface, her meditative exploration unfolds as she traces outlines of her intuitive movements, creating an autodidactic map for the evolving painting.

Guided by a philosophical approach rooted in beginner's mind, Frost actively embraces the unknown. Intentionally releasing previsualization allows her to paint the forms instinctively as they emerge around her. Working on the floor, she inhabits the interior space of these gestural landscapes as they unfold.

Through this process, Frost infuses the textiles with her corporeal essence, blending the figurative and abstract. The commingling of the physical and transcendental is the tension at play in her practice. The paintings, once completed, are intentionally hung loose, enhancing the inherent intimacy of the work.
